The JPC provides a Gender Expression Fund, currently standing at £150 per academic year, to reimburse students who purchase gender-affirming items to make them more comfortable with their gender presentation. This includes, but is not limited to: binders, packers, concealing underwear, wigs and breast-forms. Students can apply directly for up to £40 reimbursement, with more money available through a further application process.
This fund exists to make gender-affirming items accessible to students who may not otherwise have the means to purchase them, especially since many such items are manufactured overseas and have high delivery costs. Pembroke is an inclusive and supportive environment, and this fund is in place to ensure that everyone who studies at Pembroke is free to explore their gender identity and expression.
The LGBT+ Officer will submit the receipt of purchase to the treasurer, with the name obscured, for a refund. The LGBT+ Officer will be sent the money and will then refund you. They will then provide the Treasurer with proof of the repayment. This money is guaranteed, assuming there are available funds, and the money is spent on gender-affirming products. These include, but are not limited to wigs, packers, binders, concealing underwear and breast-forms. If you wish to apply for more funding, you must contact the LGBT+ Officer directly with your application, who will then raise it anonymously with the JPC to confirm/deny your application.
